Paylines
3 bothways paylines (6 effective directions)
Three paylines. On a 5×3 grid. That sounds like a cruel joke until you read the small print: each line pays in both directions. A Santa-Santa-Santa run on reels 3, 4 and 5 cashes the same as one starting from reel 1, so the effective surface is six directional reads rather than three. It's a quirky workaround, and within our wider Habanero sample it's the only win-both-ways title we've come across.
The reels themselves sit in front of a snow-packed North Pole panorama. Lit cottages line both sides, a faint silhouette of Santa's sleigh crosses the moon, and a Christmas tree blinks on the right edge of the cabinet. Symbol-wise the premium set leans hard into the theme: Santa Claus as top-pay, Rudolph just below, then a snow globe, gift box, golden bell and candy cane filling out the mids. No card royals at all, which is rare for a 2017 release and gives the whole thing a more illustrated, almost storybook feel.
Three distinct Wild behaviours run on top of the thin payline count. A standard Wild substitutes for everything except the Scatter, an Expanding Wild stretches the full reel, and a Spreading Wild seeds adjacent cells with extra Wild positions. When any of these land inside a paying combo, the win locks and the surrounding reels respin, fishing for further matches. This is the main mechanic carrying the medium hit rate, since with only three lines you genuinely need the multi-Wild reinforcement.
Scatter triggers split into two bonus modes. Sleigh Free Games runs the usual free-spin loop with the spreading and locking wilds amplified. The Map Feature is more unusual: the grid drops away entirely and you walk through Santa's village node-by-node, each cottage paying out as you land on it, and the round closing when the path ends rather than on a spin counter. It plays closer to a board-game bonus than a typical free-spins round.
Two random progressive jackpots, a Grand and a Minor, sit at the top of the cabinet and can hit on any paid spin without a symbol trigger. The trade-off here is the max win, which Habanero never formally disclosed, and a 5×3 bothways setup with three lines probably isn't where you want to chase ceiling-breaking multipliers anyway. But for a cosy seasonal pull with three legitimately distinct bonus paths, it holds up.
This is an official Habanero partner release on Respinix.
