Reel Em' In Lake Lunker Edition is Light & Wonder's latest stop in the long-running Reel ‘Em In series, and it shows up wearing a very classic outfit. 3 reels, 3 rows, 27 paylines, blue 7s, green 7s, single-double-triple bars, the lot. A cartoon fisherman bobs in his little red boat on the left, casting his line over a lake set against pink-violet sunset hills. Pine trees, seaweed bordering the reels, fish drifting past the screen. It looks like 1996 cabinet art rendered in modern HTML5, which honestly is half the appeal.

Underneath the nostalgia though, there's a structural twist you don't see often. Eight fish jackpot tiers sit in a row above the grid, running from Guppy at 2x bet at the bottom up to Rainbow Trout at 5,500x at the top, with Bluegill, Gar, Walleye, Panfish, Catfish and Bass in between. The Lake Lunker scatter is doing double duty here. Land 3 of them and you get 7 free games plus 2x your total bet. Land just 1 or 2 in the base game and you can still randomly snag one of the jackpot tiers. So scatters never really feel wasted.

And then the signature mechanic kicks in. Every fish you catch during a bonus session gets removed from the pool for the rest of that session. Win a Guppy? Gone. Bluegill? Gone. The remaining draws can only pull from what's still swimming, which is the higher-paying side of the chart. Better still, hitting another 3 scatters mid-bonus resets your free spin counter back to 7 and triggers another random jackpot pick from whatever's left. The Rainbow Trout at the top, the 5,500x prize, only unlocks once you've collected all seven other fish in a single bonus round. Brutal condition, but the math reason for it is obvious the second you read it.

The Golden Frog wild shows up in 2x and 3x multiplier flavours and subs for everything except the scatter. Reel strips also rotate between several sets behind the scenes, so symbol distribution isn't fixed spin to spin. Bet range is $0.60 to $60, picked through 4 denominations and 5 levels. Volatility isn't published, the max win number isn't confirmed beyond the Rainbow Trout top prize, and the demo version doesn't expose a Buy Bonus even though one is hinted at in the help text.

Now the catch. This is the 92% RTP build, which is well below the 96% standard most players expect, and probably the UK Wonder 500 sibling pulled from a higher-RTP master variant. If 92% is what your operator serves, you're paying for the personality. The fishing-jackpot tower and the removal mechanic are clever, the bar-and-sevens base is honest, but that RTP is a steep tax.
