Light & Wonder dusted off one of the dustier names in the Bally/WMS vault and stuck it on the NOVA Core v4.0.2 engine. Reel ‘Em In! A Bit Fishy! arrived in December 2022, and the headline trick is the strip of water sitting under the 5×3 main grid. Four positions, parading from right to left, one slot shifted every spin. That's where the whole game lives.

You're playing 729 ways at 96.00% RTP, with bets running $0.01 to $20.00. The cap is a touch tight if you're used to chasing $50 max spins elsewhere, but for a session-friendly fishing slot it lines up fine. Volatility sits in the medium-high pocket. The card royals (9 through A) come rendered in chunky 3D, while the higher pays go to a straw fishing hat, an orange landing net, and a green tacklebox stuffed with lures. A grinning cartoon Shark serves as the Wild. The colour palette leans into turquoise water with caustic light rippling across everything, gold-trimmed reel borders, and seaweed twitching in the corners.

Here's the part that matters. Fishing Rod symbols only land on reels 2-5. When a Rod drops, it reaches down and hooks whatever sits in the horizontal slot directly underneath. Cash Fish carry bet multipliers from 5x to 200x. Hook a Swordfish and Free Spins trigger (alone, or stacked with three or more Scatters, with spin counts scaling to how you got there). Hook an Electric Eel and that reel turns into a growing Wild with up to a x4 multiplier. And the rule worth tattooing somewhere: if two Eels are live at once, those multipliers combine multiplicatively, not additively. That's where the math really opens up.

In Free Spins, the Shark gains a new trick, scattering up to 5 random Wilds across a single spin. Sounds great, except retriggers aren't a thing here, which feels a little stingy for a 2022 release. There's also a Buy Pass for direct bonus entry where regulators allow it. One quirk worth flagging: L&W never published a max win figure for this one, which is unusual enough to mention. And because the horizontal strip can roll up empty positions, you'll sit through dry stretches where a Rod lands above nothing and just shrugs.

So is it worth a few sessions? Yeah, probably. The horizontal-reel mechanic is genuinely different, the Eel combo math has real teeth, and the whole thing wears its old-school WMS fishing-slot DNA proudly without feeling stuck in 2008.
