Yggdrasil's Nice Catch Too DoubleMax is the January 2024 follow-up to the original Nice Catch from May 2023, and the studio's done something I didn't expect, they widened the cabinet. The grid jumped from 5×3 to 6×3, ways to win climbed from 243 to 729, and a brand new character moved in next to the Fisherman. RTP sits at 96.0%, volatility drops a notch from very-high to high, bets run $0.10 to $40, max win caps at 10,000x. Solid numbers, though purists might miss the original's punchier variance.

The fish-collector core is untouched. Fisherman still parks himself on reel 5 only, sweeps every Fish currently in view, and pays out the stacked cash values printed on each Fish, anywhere from 1x up to 100x bet. The DoubleMax meter still climbs the cabinet in fish-shaped frames (x2, x4, x8, x16, x32) and only fills when Fish land on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost. Skip a reel and the chain dies. Brutal but fair.

Now the new bit. Diverwoman, red bikini, dive mask, lives exclusively on reel 6. When she lands at the same time as any Chest symbol, base game pauses and a Hold and Spin round triggers. You start with 3 respins. New Chest or a second Diverwoman? Counter resets to 3. Any reel that completely fills with Chests permanently locks that reel's DoubleMax for whatever's left of the round. Chest payouts run 0.5x to 5x bet. And here's the part I like, when Diverwoman appears she doubles every multiplier prize already locked on the board. Round ends on a dry sweep or a fully covered grid.

Free Spins use scattered boats. 3 boats = 8 spins, 4 = 11, 5 = 14, 6 = the full 20. After triggering you get a gamble ladder, climb a tier for more spins, lose the flip and you forfeit the whole bonus, which feels harsh but it's optional. Bonus symbols are stripped from the reels in the round. The multiplier ceiling vanishes entirely. Every Fisherman or Diverwoman that drops adds +1 spin and doubles any future multiplier prizes. Hold and Spin can also fire nested inside Free Spins, which is where the genuinely silly numbers happen. Yggdrasil published a recorded 8,192x multiplier from their ten-billion-spin internal test pool.

Don't fancy waiting? The Buy menu offers 100x for a random tier or 500x for a guaranteed 6-boat, 20-spin entry. The 500x price is steep, but it's the cleanest way into the bonus if you're hunting that 10,000x cap. Is the sequel better than the original? Mostly yes. The wider grid creates more chain-breaking misery on the DoubleMax meter, but the Diverwoman path gives you a second route to the bonus that the original simply didn't have.
