Cluster Pays (5+ matching symbols)
Midnight Marauder from Relax Gaming dropped on May 24, 2022, and it still feels like one of the more idiosyncratic cluster games out there. The setup is a 6×6 grid with cluster pays kicking in at five or more matching gems, and the cabinet sits between Victorian rooftop silhouettes against a deep navy sky. Two orange-lit windows glow on either side. There's a tiny spider dangling on a thread near one of them. Brass corner ornaments frame the reels. The splash shows a jovial cartoon burglar in a beanie, and the gem cuts themselves look almost annoyingly covetable, which is clearly the point.
Six gemstone symbols do the heavy lifting: red ruby, pink octagonal, yellow citrine, white pearl, blue lozenge diamond, green emerald-cut. One Bonus scatter rounds out the set. And here's the odd part: there are no wilds at all. For a cluster slot that's genuinely unusual, since most modern cluster games lean on wilds to bridge near-miss shapes. Relax decided you don't get that crutch.
The signature mechanic is the Collect & Multiply Re-Spin Feature. Any five-symbol cluster pays out normally, then collapses into one random position from that cluster, which becomes a sack. Re-spins start. Every matching gem that lands turns into another sack stacked on that collection point, adding to its tally. You can have multiple bags of the same colour family alive at once. When the re-spins end, sacks from the same colour multiply against each other before settling. So two bags at x5 and x12 settle at x60, not x17. That's the swing mechanic, and it's the whole reason the game has teeth. Wins only evaluate at the very end of the chain.
Free Spins arrive when three Bonus symbols land, giving you 8 spins. Extra triggers in the base add +2 spins each, while in-round retriggers add +1. Collect & Multiply stays fully active, and trigger spins can land with sacks already pre-collected on the board, which is a nice touch. The Buy Feature costs 100x bet, single tier, no Super option. Base RTP is 96.19%, Buy nudges it to 96.87%.
Honest gripe: the hit frequency sits at 11.53%, which is low even by high volatility standards, so dry stretches are real. Bets run 0.10 to 30 EUR and max win caps at 30,000x, ending the round if reached. This is the base version. A separate Dream Drop variant exists with progressive jackpots, but you won't find those tiers here.
