Light & Wonder dusted off NextGen Gaming's 2020 BTG-licensed Megaways build for this one, and honestly it's aged better than most of its 2020 stablemates. Medusa Megaways runs a 6-reel grid with a horizontal extra reel parked above reels 2 through 5, pushing the ways count anywhere from 324 to a full 117,649. The temple ruins, the toppled marble, that purple-magenta sky bleeding into orange at the horizon. It looks mythic without trying too hard, which is rare in this genre.

The base game is cascades plus a quiet little trick called Medusa's Gaze. Any time a Wild lands on the extra reel, Medusa turns one or more symbols directly below into Wilds too. Once per spin, once per cascade. It fires more often than you'd guess, and it's the main reason base-game sessions don't feel as dry as some Megaways grinders. Is it enough to carry an entire session? Not really. But it keeps you in the seat.

Free Games is where the engine actually wakes up. Three Medusa scatters award 10 spins, and the multiplier starts at x2 and climbs by 1 before every cascade. No cap, no reset between spins, carries the whole round. Long Reaction chains snowball hard. Add Snake Strike (Soldier symbols on the extra reel get converted to Wild by the left snake or Scatter by the right snake, retriggers included) and you can build the kind of board state that pushes toward the 50,000x cap. There's also a Temptation pick at the end. Collect the win, or forfeit it and replay 10 spins with the multiplier reset. One time only. Brutal little gamble.

One gripe. The Megaways market in 2026 is genuinely saturated, and Medusa Megaways doesn't reinvent anything mechanical, it just executes the proven formula competently with a strong art pass and a couple of nice twists. If you've played Raging Rhino Megaways or Perfect Potions Megaways you know the rhythm. Worth a spin if you like high-vol cascading multipliers and don't mind a familiar shape.
