Lightning Joker is what happens when Yggdrasil hands the keys to Reflex Gaming under the YG Masters program and asks for a fruit machine that isn't embarrassed to call itself one. It's a real 3×3 grid with 5 paylines, not the usual 5×3 cosplay. Released June 2020. The backdrop is deep purple velvet with thin pinstripes, the reel frame is gold metalwork, and the UI sticks to warm gold. It looks expensive without trying too hard.

The Joker is the detail people miss. She's a hand-drawn female harlequin in copper and burgundy, three-point jester hat, painted like a vintage stage poster. Not the recycled playing-card joker every other studio uses. Symbol set is exactly what you'd want: cherries, lemon, watermelon and grapes carry the lows, then a lightning-bolt star, the retro red 7, and her portrait sit on top. The Wild is a sapphire-blue lightning diamond, and yes, three of those alone pay 16x.

The hook is Rapid Respins. Fill any two of the three reels with the same symbol and the third reel respins by itself, free of charge, until it either lands the match or breaks the streak. Wilds count as whichever symbol the two filled columns are showing, which is more useful than it sounds. Land the third reel and the grid is full, and that's where Multiplier Strike kicks in. One roll, weighted: x2 (50%), x3 (35%), x5 (10%), x10 (5%). No progressive ladder, no held multipliers, no second chance. Cherries with the x10 land you around 1,400x, which is a respectable evening.

And then there's the second path, completely separate from respins. The Joker is the one icon the Wild does not substitute for, because she's a scatter. Two Jokers anywhere triggers the Mystery Win, drawn from an 8-rung ladder: 2x, 10x, 30x, 100x, 300x, 1,000x, 3,000x, 10,000x of total stake. Weighted toward the bottom, obviously. Three Jokers anywhere lifts the floor to 100x. Three Jokers on an active payline lifts it to 1,000x, and the cap stays at 10,000x regardless.

Stats: RTP 96.3%, medium-high volatility, bet range $0.10 to $50. But here's the thing worth flagging: there are no free spins, no buy feature, no ante toggle, no held wilds. Everything happens in the base game, which I personally like, though if you're the type who only logs in for the bonus round, you'll be staring at a screen that never changes mode. The Mystery Win is also locked out during respin sequences, so the two best mechanics can't fire on the same spin.

Quibble while we're here: the Multiplier Strike weighting is honestly a bit stingy. A 5% chance at x10 on the rare grids you actually fill means most of your respin wins land at x2 or x3. Still, for a 3-reeler with a real 10,000x ceiling and no gimmick layered on top, Lightning Joker holds up. It's confident, it's quick, and it doesn't waste your time pretending to be something it isn't.
