100 lines (25 Main + 75 Colossal)
Picture two reel sets sitting shoulder to shoulder. On the left, a tidy 5×4 grid running 25 paylines. On the right, a 5×12 monster carrying 75 paylines. That's Giant's Gold, a WMS Colossal Reels release from December 11, 2013, and the whole point of the design is the way those two halves talk to each other.
Without the signature trick, the colossal grid would just be a bloated copy of its neighbor. The trick is Wild Symbol Transfer. Land a full stack of four climbing-beanstalk wilds on any reel of the main set and the matching reel on the giant grid turns fully wild for that spin. A four-cell contribution paints a twelve-row column. The transfer stays live through the whole round once it happens, which is exactly the kind of mechanic that makes you cheer for stacked symbols rather than groan.
The math: 96.21% RTP, medium-high volatility, bets from $0.50 to $100, and a max win of 2,500x. Modest cap for the era? Sure, especially next to today's six-figure ceilings. But you reach it through main-reel wild transfer landing on the high-paying 75 colossal lines while the bonus doubler sits on top. Speaking of, three FEATURE scatters scattered across both grids trigger 5 free spins. Only five. Heavy scatter floods can technically climb to 100, though good luck holding your breath for that. Every line pay on the colossal set pays double during the bonus, while the main set keeps ticking at base rate. The entire weight tilts toward the giant grid.
One quiet booster runs every base spin too. Before the reels start, a handful of adjacent positions on each reel get randomly replaced with any paying symbol from the paytable. A pre-spin nudge toward connected hits, no flashy animation. Carve-out worth knowing: positions replaced on the colossal grid never get wild. Transfer remains the only path to wilding a giant column. Line pays don't carry between sets either, so the 25 + 75 split is real, not cosmetic.
Visually it's pure storybook Jack and the Beanstalk. Glowing sun, sky castle on clouds, beanstalk twisting up the right edge in warm copper, sky blue, emerald. Worth a few spins for the mechanic alone.
