Gameplay Screenshots

Picture a diamond-plate metal floor with blue and purple flames flickering along the bottom, and neon-rimmed element tokens glowing back at you from a 5×3 grid. That's Flame, NextGen's April 2018 release for Light & Wonder, and the visual choice is what hooked me first. The fire isn't literal. It's electric, almost arcade-cabinet bright, with a purple lightning bolt sitting next to a blue water drop and an orange flame disc, all on a near-black background. The premiums are fiery animal heads: a golden lion, a frost-white eagle, a glowing wolf staring sideways.

Mechanically the math is generous on paper. 96.61% RTP, medium-high volatility, 20 paylines, and bets stretch from $0.15 up to $75. The grid pays win-both-ways, but only when one specific mini-feature decides to show up. And that's where Flame gets interesting, or chaotic, depending on your mood.

There are seven random mini-features, any of which can fire on any spin with no fixed trigger. Cross Flare flips the current spin into a two-way payer. Flare Up slaps a 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x or 10x multiplier on everything. Fire Whirl drops a flame over up to five reels and pays cash prizes for each lion, wolf or eagle it covers. Live Embers turns low card symbols on random middle reels into wilds. Spontaneous Combustion converts every mid-tier element into a single random premium. Wild Inferno grants a respin for each wild and locks them in place, adding more respins as new wilds land. And Firestorm fuses wilds and bonuses on the middle reels into a combined symbol that subs for everything.

Honestly? Seven features feels like a lot. You sometimes finish a spin unsure which one fired. But the chaos has a payoff: trigger three bonus scatters and you get 15 free spins, retriggerable, where all seven mini-features show up far more often. That's where the advertised 7,500x max win actually lives. Wilds and bonuses appear on the middle three reels only, so don't expect them at the edges.

Is the randomness frustrating? A bit. But it's also why a $0.45 spin can swing into something memorable without warning.
