Dragon Wins

NextGen’s 2017 dragon meter slot puts four colour-coded beasts in the corners, each gunning for a different kind of bonus spin. The 1,200x cap stings a bit.

Four cartoon dragons. Four corners. Four completely different bonus rounds, and you don't choose which one shows up. That's the hook NextGen built into Dragon Wins back in December 2017, and it's still the only reason to load this one up now that it sits inside the Light & Wonder catalogue.

Mechanically it's a standard 5×3 grid with 40 fixed paylines, betting from $0.25 up to $125, and a 95.49% RTP that's honestly a touch below where you'd expect a modern release to land. Volatility leans high in practice, though wins arrive often enough during base play to keep things ticking. The art helps too: a cracked stone tablet floating in a clear blue sky, grassy islands drifting around the edges, and dragon heads sitting on little flaming tiles. Low pays are faceted gems in pink, teal and blue, bright and almost candy-coloured.

The corner meters are where it gets interesting. Win with the red dragon and the red meter creeps up. Same logic for gold, green, purple. Fill any one and you get 3 Dragon Spins with a modifier tied to that exact colour. Red stacks dragons on every reel. Gold turns every dragon gold, then converts one chosen gem into more gold dragons after each spin (wins only pay once the conversion settles). Green floods up to three middle reels with solid dragon symbols. Purple is the headliner, turning every dragon purple and letting them expand up and down to swallow extra positions. During any of these rounds the blue Scatter is swapped for a colour-matched version, and three of those retrigger the same bonus you're already in.

Then there's the parallel Scatter route. Three or more blue shields drop you into either More Wilds (10-15 spins, selected symbols flip wild after each spin) or Wild Reels (5-10 spins, up to three centre reels go fully wild). Which one you get is decided at trigger. Both retrigger. On top of all that, a dragon can occasionally breathe fire and repeat its win 3x, 5x or 10x.

So why does it cap at 1,200x? Good question. For a slot with this many overlapping bonus paths, a four-figure ceiling feels stingy. No buy bonus either, which in 2026 reads as old-fashioned. Still, if you like watching mechanics collide rather than chasing a 10,000x dream, Dragon Wins has more going on than its modest stats suggest.
