Gameplay Screenshots

Picture a 5×3 grid wrapped in lacquered red trim and gold dragon scrolls, with a glowing purple orb sitting above the logo like something pulled out of an imperial fever dream. That's Dragon Spin, Scientific Games' 2016 release that eventually became the first entry in the Dragon Spin series under the Light & Wonder banner. RTP sits at 95.94%, volatility lands in the medium-high pocket, and stakes run from $0.30 up to $120 across 30 fixed paylines. The hard ceiling is $250,000 cash, with no published x-multiplier attached.

Base play hinges on Mystery Stacked Reels. Every reel ships with stacked mystery positions, and when you hit spin those stacks resolve into one symbol pulled from a small pool of two or three candidates per reel. The Red Flame Wild only enters the base game through this mystery mechanic, never naturally on the strips, and the bonus scatter is excluded from the mystery pool entirely. Premiums are four dragon medallions in red, blue, purple and green, carved like jade-and-gold portraits. They all pay identically (5/20/50x line for 3/4/5 of a kind), which is honestly a bit flat. Why even bother with four colors if the math treats them the same? Card values fill in the low end as gem-cut letters.

The Bonus is where things get interesting. Land three green-gem medallions on reels 2, 3 and 4 and you get a single spin of the Dragon Spin Wheel. One spin. The wheel randomly hands you one of three free-game variants, and you don't get to choose. Each round is five spins with a separate bonus reel set and no retriggers, which is the obvious gripe here.

Raining Wilds drops 3-10 random wilds onto the bonus reels every spin, evenly spread across all five spins. Persisting Wilds is back-loaded math: spins 1-3 deliver 1-2 sticky wilds each, spin 4 bumps to 1-3, and the final spin alone can stack 2-7 fresh wilds on top of everything already locked. The fifth spin is the one that matters. Reel Blast runs three reel sets at once but shares a single center reel spanning columns 2/3/4, so whatever symbol resolves on that shared center counts for every set above and below. Effectively nine reels of payline action firing at the same time. A clever piece of engineering for 2016, and it still feels distinctive a decade later.
